Dean is an idiot! There is no such thing as a simple or easy hunt, and he should know that by now. Leaving Sam behind pretty much guaranteed that he and Caleb were going to get their asses handed to them by the witch and need Sam to save them. And he should feel horrible for basically saying that Sam is less a man now and is a liability. And after all the hard work he did to get the kid back on his feet, literally and figuratively...
Loved the reunion with John :) You know, people always say Sam and John are just alike but so are John and Dean - and they are both asses when it does come to Sam and how they treat him (Dean shares his father's sharp tongue and is just as stubborn and single minded). Sad that it took a heart attack for John to finally man up. As the father, the onnus was on him to take the first step and admit he was wrong, so it was nice to see that he did. He should be proud of Sam. Even with the drug issue in the last chapter, it shouldn't take away from everything that Sam has accomplished both before and after the accident.
