\o/ This is lovely! The gap between 02x02 and 02x03 was a fabulous place to slip this in; though I'd hardly have said no to some heavyweight H/C shoved in whenever, the added dimension of this particular intersection of their character arcs, with all the fault lines John's death put stress on, was fantastic. I especially liked that it wasn't wrapped up too neatly--the last line was perfect for them.
